Nipsey Hussle is one of many rappers supporting Trayvon Martin, but he is the first to end up in handcuffs over it. Police restrained Nipsey at a Trayvon Martin protest rally Tuesday night, under the suspicion that the rapper was carrying a gun.

TMZ reports that police allegedly saw Nipsey doing something that led them to believe he was armed. When they approached and cuffed the rapper, they soon disovered that he was not carrying a weapon and let him go.

It is still not clear if Hussle was even involved in the rally.

In other Nipsey news, the hip hop world is still waiting patiently for his much-delayed TM3: Victory Lap, which still has no release date.

Nipsey has now spoken to TMZ about the incident, clarifying the details of the event. According to the rapper, the police were incorrectly informed by police helicopter patrol that the rapper was carrying a weapon.

The police allegedly swarmed Hussle after someone threw a bottle at his car. The rapper and his crew briefly got out of their car to address the bottle-thrower, then drove away. Cops surrounded them shortly after.

Hussle then explained that the police used excessive force on his crew, particularly his disabled brother. "They pushed his face on the concrete. They dropped a knee in his spine then twisted his arm and cuffed him while he was not resisting." he said.

Nipsey and his crew were held for four hours, after which they were let go when it was clear that no one in the crew was armed.

The rapper is ruling out the possibility of racial profiling however. "I think it was the result of hyper sensitive LAPD officers overreacting once again." he said.
